Apple Crisp
Serves 6 to 8
An easy crumble topping over fresh sliced apples. What could be better?
Ingredients:
- TOPPING:
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- FILLING:
- 6 baking apples, peeled, cored, and sliced 1/2-inch thick
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- OPTIONAL:
- Vanilla ice cream or sweetened whipped cream
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In a medium bowl, combine dry topping ingredients. Add melted butter and stir with a fork. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, toss apples with sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle with lemon juice and zest; toss again. Spread in a 9 x 13-inch pan. Sprinkle topping mixture over sliced apples.
- Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes or until apples are tender and top is golden brown and bubbly. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
